Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: August 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs use of Internet service provided by Frazier Mountain Internet Service ("FMIS," "we," "us"). By using our network, you agree to this policy. It exists to keep the network reliable for all subscribers and to protect FMIS's ability to route traffic reliably to the rest of the Internet.
2. Prohibited Uses
You may not use FMIS service to:
- Send unsolicited bulk email ("spam"), or relay email on behalf of others without authorization
- Operate an open mail relay, open proxy, or open DNS resolver reachable from the public Internet
- Distribute malware, participate in a botnet, or knowingly operate a compromised or infected device
- Conduct port scanning, network intrusion attempts, or denial-of-service attacks against any other network
- Originate or participate in IP address spoofing, or otherwise falsify traffic origin
- Violate any applicable local, state, or federal law in connection with your use of the service
3. Outbound Mail (Port 25)
Outbound SMTP (TCP port 25) is blocked by default for all residential accounts. This is a standard, industry-wide anti-abuse measure — it is one of the most common ways a compromised residential device is used to send spam, and blocking it protects the reputation of the entire FMIS network, which affects deliverability for every subscriber.
If you operate a legitimate mail server and require outbound port 25 access, contact us at support@frazmtn.net to request an exception. Exceptions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be revoked if abuse occurs.
4. Compromised or Abusive Devices
If FMIS identifies a device on your connection generating abusive traffic (spam, scanning, botnet activity, denial-of-service participation, or similar), we reserve the right to:
- Rate-limit the affected connection
- Temporarily suspend service to the affected connection
- Quarantine the connection to a walled-garden network with limited access, until the issue is resolved
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you promptly when this occurs, including the reason and steps needed to restore full service. In cases of active, ongoing harm to other networks, we may act before notification to limit damage, and will notify you as soon as practical afterward.
5. Restoration of Service
Once a suspended or rate-limited connection has been remediated (device cleaned, reconfigured, or replaced), contact support@frazmtn.net to request restoration. We may ask for a brief description of what was done to resolve the issue.
6. Reporting Abuse
To report suspected abuse originating from our network, contact abuse@frazmtn.net. We monitor this address and aim to acknowledge reports within 24 hours (high-severity) to 5 business days (low-severity), per our internal triage process.
7. Changes to This Policy
FMIS may update this AUP from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
