Comparison of AO and NON-AO Data Sets
IMAGE CENTROID MOTION OVER 60 sec w/ 50 Hz sampling:
Benoit Schillings and I grabbed numerous high speed seeing samples using S/W that Benoit wrote to drive the ST-7 for this purpose. Crunching those data samples provided data sets like the ones shown below. THe plot of Centroid motion in X-Y space is particularly interesting.
Note that if one was only seeing DRIVE effects that the motion ofthe stellar centroid would NOT be seen in both X and Y. This shows image motion due to SEEING EFFECTS.
The Following PLOTS show the efffects of tip-tilt AO at various frequencies and show both the RAW 50 Hz seeing data and the residual motion after removal of the AO corrections ( AO simulation ).
